Chinese elm that I chopped way too early then got too busy and couldn’t tend to it. I gain nothing but a scar for that chop. What are yours?

1" trunk for a 3 ft tall tree. Should I grow it some more to get bigger trunk or is it time to really chop?

I could go either way. Chop it now and have a nice refined taper, or forget about it and revisit it next spring and see what you have. I am leaning toward forget about it.

Nice. I vote to let that one have another year of trunk thickening and healing the scar.

This is my remnant. I let the apex of this tree get out of control and ended up with overly thick branches up there and ruined the taper. The only way I can see to fix it is to chop it again but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet.
