Are there uses for the powdery remnants of lava and pumice after sifting? I think I read somewhere that people use it for muck.

Not sure on the lava or pumice, but with DE I use it as a desiccant to ward off certain bugs from my veggie beds. Some people I've heard even eat it to help with digestion....not that I'm recommending that. I mixed some DE dust into the mud flats I was growing moss in as well.

I dump the dust in the yard. Not much other use for me.

@Nicholas Box don't get excited it's a very fine powder. I think they use it for toothpaste and stuff. But good mind set

I use "turface" (Oil-Dri: calcined montmorillonite clay) fines as cat litter. I'll probably do the same with non-calcined DE fines (Napa 8822/optisorb). Calcined DE (AxisDE) fines will probably go on the lawn/garden with the perlite fines.

I walk the yard while sifting! Two birds with one stone.

I rinse all of my different items that contain powder over the yard with a sift and hose. No dust and it just works its way into the lawn or mulched areas.
