I always get such good response to technical type questions, so I'll throw another one out there.

How do you remove algae from trunks?

I've had good results with using vinegar lightly applied with a toothbrush. It seems to kill it pretty well within a few days and I've noticed no harmful effects to the tree.

However, I've read recently that if the vinegar gets in the soil it can create or turn into acetic acid or somesuch, which is or can be harmful.

I've never tried to protect the soil before but I don't use much vinegar when I apply it....Just enough to wet the algae.

Does any one have thoughts on this?

Thanks,
