Short, perhaps somewhat silly question: Can I still repot this smal Acer B, or am I too late and should I wait till next spring?

9?
By 'repot' do you mean just give it fresh soil without much root reduction or do you mean radical root reduction to fit it into a little pot? I would be happy to do the first but a little hesitant about the second but not sure why you would want to put this into a small pot. It needs to grow a lot more to help heal that cut.

I wouldn't do anything until that large cut scar is mostly covered over....and the new trunk line growth thickens and develops strongly. Pick out a branch and make that your next section. The scar cover should happen as you let the next trunk section grow wildly in preparation for that section to be chopped back. I don’t see a need to repot. Let it grow.

i did one yest. i think youll find that there are maple enthusiasts who repot as the leaves are unfurling and some who do it at bud swell/break. you can only try for yourself right.
