I think the result is very successful, in a few years it will be superb.
I prefer the photo of August 18, when the movement of the tree goes to the left.
In yesterday's photo the shari is perhaps a bit too eye-catching.
Thanks Jaco. I’m really happen with the progress also. The latest photo was taken of the intended “back” but I was thinking I’d give it a try. I also prefer the image on the other side.

I really like the way you make your trees evolve, making them "wild".
👍
Thank you for saying Jaco. That means a lot. I’m 8 years in and feel like I’m just getting comfortable with styling and design. Horticultural efforts need work but I’m getting there.

As my eye was telling me early on, it seems this RMJ should keep tighter foliage then their reputation states. I removed all of the wire as I had bite in almost everywhere. And today I was noticing the amount of backbudding on all of the areas that will be established as pads in the coming seasons. 9D4A7169-72D1-4E13-9BB2-A490C7A00740.jpeg8F59D3A1-C289-48B1-ABDB-6D15AF3900F4.jpeg

The far left trunk of this tree has suffered. Tip blight of sorts I believe. It’s pushing new growth out of the dead fortunately. I’ve been using a steady rotation of Infuse and Daconil to try and get this under control. The other two trunks are bright blue and healthy, though there are a few small tips affected. Working on getting this tree back to health and letting it get shaggy before any work is done. Maybe by next spring or fall I can detail things out a bit more.

You can really see the affected trunk in this pic here. I’m hoping I dont have to eliminate that left side in the future.

Really nice tree. Was it a nursery tree? If so, do you remember the cultivar? I have a Table Top Blue and the foliage looks very similar. I'm going to repot it this winter at a new angle, and I'm trying to gather as much info about repotting them as I can (and what they respond best to).

Thanks! It was a nursery tree, but do not remember the cultivar. The foliage is def far tighter than lots of other RMJ I’ve seen.

What was dying has died. New growth looking strong so far and I’m feeling good about that third trunks future. I ended up tilting up the pot to the right as @bwaynef suggested and I’ve really monitored the watering of this tree. The rest of the tree has been gangbusters.

Another update. @sorce @River's Edge . Thank goodness my horticultural care abilities are not total shit. 😂 I have been able to save the entire left trunk on this one after what seemed to be total death, and the new growth is strong and abundant. I’m hoping by next fall the foliage will have filled back in as it once was. With this one, i removed the dying foliage, I aerated the rootball with a chopstick, and I tilted up the pot for better drainage. Specifically tilted up away from the damaged side. I did spray with an all purpose fungicide and daconil awhile ago that may or may not have helped. I’m leaning towards I did not need it. I’m thinking the issue with the shimp is similar as the signs are very similar. I have a feeling I over think things too much and my timing, lack of patience and over doing it all is a big culprit in my issues.

Gave it all a trim and the primary branches were all wired. Just need to detail wire. Looks a bit of a mess for sure, but I think I can get it looking better when complete. Very happy with the vigor of this tree, especially how well the bottom left trunk looks now. It’s thin but the foliage was plump. Pondering a big angle change at repot next year. Reducing the Jin and a using this as the front. Thoughts?

Nice Danny. I like the relatively small apex - gives it a nice alpine vibe.

Food for thought - I’m wondering how it would look without that bottom left trunk….

Thanks TJ. Yeah I def keep considering that. I just may still, but I’m also thinking that once i really clean up the tree in its entirety it may work. The bottom left branch could also be the problem. I created 2 images, one removing the entire 3rd left trunk and one just removing that bottom left branch. What do you think?

As much as I’d rather not, this also may be the play at some point down the road.
