Root Cuttings from Yew?

I had to trim some root from the recent Yew dig and tossed two "interesting" pieces in a bucket of water and forgot about them until just now. I did not know and do not know if you can pull off root cuttings and would be grateful to hear from anyone that has had experience with it. Thank you in advance!

Being a conifer I wouldn't think so.

It would be interesting to have a list of tree species that will grow from root cuttings. We know about elms, another that I have had success with is American sweetgum (liquidambar styraciflua). Any others?
