Root gall on my Princess Persimmon?

Need some guidance on the best way to deal with what appears to be root gall on my Princess Persimmon. It has been in this flat for 2 years now.

Do I wait until spring and then pull it out and cut it all off, repotting it? Or do I deal with it now before the first frost and keep it in my greenhouse? I am in Raleigh, NC. I have never dealt with this before so any advice is appreciated.

I had this one time on a prunus and I just cut it off with branch pruners...and it never came back.

Thanks. If some of the gall goes down into the soil line, should I be removing soil this close to winter or should I be waiting until spring when I repot?

It's not good to leave the wound over winter so I'd do it during repotting.
