Rooting woody branch of ginkgo

Can we root a woody branch 1” or so of ginkgo?

Textbook? No. But anything is possible and stranger things have happened. Air layering worked well for me but the branches were under 1/2 inch.

Gingko root quite easily for me so I think there is a reasonable chance of success with thicker and older wood. Not I am not trying to imply 100% strike rate just possibility if all conditions are met.
Layering however has a much higher success rate with thicker wood.
It will come down to how much you want that section to root successfully.

Ginkgos root branches very easy, in Japan they also make cuttings from the "chichis" a very odd tubercle like structures only found in ginkgos

For thicker cuttings dormant hardwood is generally better timing
