I keep my Internet stuff in a "Favorites" folder in Chrome.

Just happened to see a fave labeled "Bonsai Notes" It led to an OLD post I made when I first got on Bnut. Even had the old username. Tried it and it still worked.
Thought I'd summarize the old thread to show how this Scots pine has developed through thick and thin and mistakes and messes.
Anyhow... This is it. 🙂 Hope it's of some interest.

The VERY start. First big blue bowl.

Thanks for looking.

Nice! Can you describe the biggest mistakes and the biggest successes you had with this tree?

Easily. Bad soil and some bad advice.
Changing both worked well. ;)

Specifically, some VERY bad akadama that turned to tar ...or something.
And... taking off the buds. No more. Scots pine single flush likes leaving buds on and NOT removing candles early.

I learned all of those things the same way. ;-)
Apart from the buds though, I was told that very early in my bonsai-career thankfully.
