Usually I do not post non-bonsai related kakejiku work on the bonsai forum, but this painting is very pretty and most of you like the old paintings and scrolls anyway...so I thought you could enjoy.

This customer is a Professor of Japanese literature, and wanted this scroll remounted. I found it is a small world, because this professor, went on an LDS (Mormon) mission at the same time as a friend of mind from my local church to the Nagoya area. I went about 4 months ahead of both of them on a mission to Fukuoka. Anyways enough with the nostalgia.
1st pic is of the artwork as it was constituted. There are pillars and ichimonji of the original scroll. Pillars are the cloth on the side, and the ichimonji is the border along the top and bottom.
2nd pic is the artwork with the cloths removed, as well as the Hada and sou urauchi. These are the backing layers of paper to the scroll. It is hard to see, but there is a slight tear on the right hand side, and the left hand side has some yogore (staining)
3rd pic is the artwork with the new layer of paper called Hada urauchi on the artwork. It is really pretty. The staining is minimized and the tear has been recovered to the best it can.
