Hello everyone,

Got this sea grape and I’m wondering what you guys think about it. Does it have any potential as a twin trunk or is it too lanky?

Should I keep it as bonsai or throw it in the ground as a landscape shrub?

(the top was defoliated because the leaves were huge)

Of course potential. Father and son tree to grow larger and mitigate larger leaf size. Great tree for your area☺️. Please keep outdoors.

@Anthony had some good sea grape info.

I think it has potential but leaving leaves on the smaller trunk only is backwardsing it's potential.

Don't reckon I'd "even it out" at this point, just keep the balance the other way in the future.

They grow slowly, have very big leaves and coarse ramification but they are a interesting species

Sea grapes can make great bonsai, but they will retain large leaves. They do can be reduced.. This one belongs to some friends of mine. It's been a bonsai for about 25 years now. Florida collected.
