following the 2018 Fall Colours thread (https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/fall-colours.35353/), i thought it might be interesting to have a winter silhouette thread!

i specified deciduous because these have the most obvious change from summer to fall to winter, but please feel free to post any tree you please :)

i'll go first - these two maples are located in the front yards of two facing-neighbors on my street. The two trees form a tunnel for the passing cars as they battle over the top of the street

I'll go dig around tomorrow and see if I can find some more. Here's a spirea nipponica I've been working on for 4 years from garden center material. The ramifications get crazy every year. It will be drastically thinned out this coming spring. Needs a new pot now too.received_351282158772038.jpeg

Spooky Elm, left to grow all season to power a ground layer to shorten it a little and to remove a little inverse taper near soil level:

Post Layer/ post cutback - next season will hopefully see it back to a higher state of ramification

His full face is only revealed when you look a little around the trunk
