Yeah, so the big tree isn’t one, but it had a branch removed and rotted a nice little hole for this thing to sprout. Shall I yank it out and pot it?

You can buy one that size for a few ¥. In the tree, it's special. The roots would be hard to extricate without making the hole bigger and tearing up the roots.
