I've been contemplating for nearly a year now whether or not to take the cascading branch off this Wakaebisu Azalea. Maybe someone on the forum can offer some insight that I haven't considered? Obviously, as it is now it's detracting from an otherwise pretty nice tree.

No professional insight here but this

Is absolutely correct.
If it were mine I'd take it off, that branch is far to straight to fit in with the rest of the tree and it makes it look out of balance. Just my 2 cents.

I really don't think there's anything worth keeping on the branch that would make it worth setting the rest of the tree back.

I'm thinking it will take half the time to grow that bit of foliage into a pad than it will to heal and regain the shape of the trunk.
Very cool tree!
