Well, based on @jeremy_norbury detailed plans (a huge THANK YOU Jerry!), I have just finished my first bench.
The wood is Cumaru, a Brazilian tree as hard as Ipê, but not so dark in color.
Very heavy, believe me. It will last many, many years for sure, it came out very sturdy.
It is missing the last coat of wood protector, but I am proud of the results so I'm showing it anyway.

This is my second year in bonsai, but I’ve been gardening for over 25 years. I have 30+ rose bushes, 30+ hydrangeas, and too many other plants and vegetables to name. I’m currently experimenting with air layering and I’m going to chop the S shaped Chinese elm on the left. I’m heading to a nursery in Dayton Ohio this weekend to look for a nice maple. They’ve been in business for 60 years and have over 800 bonsai. I’ll probably end up dropping some serious coin. I’m also sealing these tables this weekend.

I overwintered these in an unheated garage with no light. They were exposed to many mid 20°F days and nights outside in early winter. They didn’t drop their leaves for over a month after I put them in an unheated garage with no light. I didn’t cut a few off shoots to see how different the new leaf buds would be in the spring. (smaller or larger)

Not bad prebonsai bench. Pulled apart our chicken coop, then built in 1.2 hours outta scrap/reused screws etc. ran out of long pieces there on the right. Cost $0

I had some hardwood the contractor didn't use when he built a part of the roof of an outside area of my aparment so I decided to create a bench using as much as possible of the leftover rafters pieces.

IMG-20200715-WA0004.jpg

The building process took some time to make the joinery by hand because the wood was very hard and I didn't have much free time to make the holes as the time I was allowed to make noise in my apartment was the time I usually was working.

At the end, the effort was worth it and I am happy with the result.
