I purchased a Silverberry today knowing nothing about it (can't pass up 50% off) and thought I'd give it a try. After searching the forums for any info I see that some have worked with it before. The one thing was that it had some big roots that just swirled around the pot which I cut out. I posted a pic after cutting them half way out, I ended up cutting them almost all the way out in the end. Also had an arching root I noticed after digging down. I kept that for now for maybe a ROR or maybe just keep it, or not. Put it in a pond basket and I think it went pretty well. From reading it seems like these are pretty tolerant to heavy root work and recover well.
If you have any insight or suggestions I'd be glad to hear it.

I would leave it for now to get some vigor, but I think you should eventually remove that right root and cut back to something like the yellow trunk line:

Yea thanks, That was the line I had in mind too when it comes to pruning back. The branches are all over now so it will need a serious cutback. I'm leaning to agree with removing that right root also.
