I can't wait!!! I love winter... only thing I hate is the warm spells during winter when you have to worry about dormancy break and the dreaded freezing rain!!!

Oddly it looks like we will see a bit more today. It is not storming but steady. Thankfully I have the landscape straightened out so even if the weather goes up and down it will drain and not promote that bacterial problem... Last season I only lost four BC because of early bud break but it was totally my fault as I moved them to full sun way to early not expecting another cold spell. For now it is piling up slow but certain -

I got the pit lined and moved my trees and leaf mulch in just in time. First picture is the lined pit my trees will winter in, the second picture is about 3 hrs later. Expecting another 4-5 inches of snow overnight.

Bet we've had close to 3" here in Wyomissing. I suspected they were underestimating this system but I can't say why. I am going to shovel a bunch of snow over my trees to insulate against the upcoming cold, which will be as low as 12F, according to the forecast.

This may be the only time I can participate in a thread like this. In South Louisiana, snow only comes about once or twice a decade. We got about 6", probably the most I've seen in my 63 years. Seeing snow-covered banana plants down by the bayou is not something you see every day.

Pretty, Jim. I like the single rose bloom peeking into the first shot. This is definitely the most snow I’ve seen in our 18 years here, and it’s probably not all melting today.

Trees have been in the cold frame, under the benches amd next to the garage for a month now. Finnaly got our first storm up here in maine, if all goes according to plan they will be fully buried by the next storm and stay that way til march.1210171146.jpg 1210171146a.jpg that crab in the center of pic 2 still in leaf never showed fall color, I'm pretty sure it pushed growth all the way thru Oct too.
