This week, an interview with the great Pauline Muth. Check it out, if you'd like. Some interesting discussions about bonsai societies and conventions and whether they still have a place like they once did.. Also, some discussion of women in bonsai. I hope you enjoy!

You do great interviews, I really enjoy them. This one was exceptional.

Thanks Carol! Pauline has had an extraordinary bonsai career and she's an absolute fire cracker! I wish more people knew of her and all the work she's done. It's great that we all these new people in bonsai, and the new online learning, etc, but I'm afraid we'll lose track of some really great people if we don't stop and appreciate the ones that came before us.

I've thoroughly enjoyed doing these interviews. Sara is an absolute legend in American bonsai pottery. She was awesome to talk to...hope you enjoy!

The publish button was a bit glitchy yesterday, I bet that's why the email notice didn't go out. Thanks for letting me know, I think I've corrected it, let me know if you got the email.

Been awhile since I updated the blog. Back up and running with an update to a Zelkova I started with an Arbor Day seedling a little over 5 years ago. Check it out, if you’d like.

I’m sure many of you have purchased the LEGO bonsai set, but if you haven’t, you should! Here’s a review wrapped in a story about my son and I building it together on Sunday morning. Enjoy!

I'm glad they made more of these. The first production run sold out really fast, and then I saw them being scalped on eBay and Craigslist of all places. I love the set and think it is really cool!

Agreed. I didn’t realize they were on back order. I received this set pretty quickly from Target. Have you tried to make any different types of trees? I wish I had all my old bricks from back in the day, I could make some rad designs!

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow to share (when I have better light). I used the same pieces but reconfigured it to make it a better bonsai :)

I’m up with another update to a JBP. This one I started with my buddy Stickroot, who unfortunately hasn’t been around here much lately, which is too bad, b/c he’s an awesome bonsai artist and all around good dude. Hopefully he’ll be back again soon.

You can check it out here:

I recently attended our clubs monthly meeting and I was reminded how good a resource our local clubs are. I wrote this weeks post hoping it will inspire others to join (or long time members to re-engage). I made this infographic with hopes that other clubs might find it useful In thier outreach. If you’re in a club and want to share with your leadership team, or you’re a leader yourself, feel free to share the infographic far and wide! (I also have it in PDF form, if need be)
