There are 4 seedlings in this pot, all planted at the same time in March 2023. Look at the difference in growth.View attachment 514258

If you separate them, their growth will even out. When crowded together in the same pot, the stronger trees tend to outcompete the smaller ones. Even when the difference in strength is slight, the effect can be huge.

I wouldn't say 4 seedlings in that pot are crowded. I think genetics plays a role too.

I'm not sure what the cause is, but I know that often when I remove weak seedlings to their own pots, they quickly catch up in height to their siblings.
