Is their any benefit to mixing Kiryu and pumice together. I am strating to get a collection of rare and endangered conifers plant and seeds.
I want to get the very best mix of soils fro them. The trees are around 5 years old and the seed will be new sprouts from now until spring.
Thanks for any help,
Bob Gardner

No answer from me if its benificial to mix those two up but imo there is not one perfect mix its kind of personal too, sure there is a good basic but then t also depends on the care you can take for the tree's like how often can you water the tree's, the spot their in ( how much sun do they get how much wind there is that helps drie up the soil etc)

Ive seen examples of yews being planted in straight pumice with good results

For coniferous trees i use a mix of 1/4 DE 1/4 zeolite 1/4 split (tiny stones with sharp edges) and 1/4 pine bark (small chunks)

They stand on a full sunny spot and i am able to water early in the morning before i go to work and then late in the afternoon when im back again but then again this is all personal imo

Hah Gogeerah,

you missed one, as long as the inorganic is durable.

And with short time does not turn to sand/clay or has quantities
of K and Na.
Good Day

I want to thank all who responded to my inquiry.
At this stage I think that straight Pumice with some of the bonsai mix
that I get from my local bonsai store I just need a little more drainage
THANKS AGAIN
