Some people hate sifting components, but I enjoy it quite a bit. What I don’t enjoy is my sifter. As I switch out the various screens, they eventually bend and leave gaps. I came up with this trick earlier in the week, and it’s made a big difference.

Below is my old sifter:

Like many of you, I have been collecting colanders, and that’s what gave me the idea. The design speaks for itself. I made one for each screen size and chucked the outer ring. The black strips are small zip ties...make sure the connecter is on the inside so you don't cut your hands while you're going swirly-swirl;)

I hope this helps someone:)

Nice idea! I hate the metal sifters... your right they constantly bend.
I have been using gold panning classifiers now for a few years and love them! Lots of sizes and fit into 5gal pails.
I get them on Ebay but think they are on Amazon as well.

Hey get out there and put those classifiers to work. Plenty of open claims in AZ. This one is not.

Plenty! This is east of Florence near the old Reymert Silver Mine. You will need a Jeep. ;) @AaronThomas

This is what I use too. Like @AaronThomas says, fits perfectly inside the rim of a 5 gallon bucket (I use a Home Depot big orange bucket) and makes it super easy to sift out and discard fines. I use it for DE, Perlite, Scoria...anything that's dusty right out of the bag.

also use these and sift everything from garden soils to swamp muck and of course my substrates. Large organics and soils go in the composter, Fine’s get mixed with all kinds of left over soils and gives me amazing potting soil. $75 approx gave me 15 gal of regular bonsai mix, 10 of shohin, 15 of potting soil, and only 5 gal to add to my composter.

Gold is the most worthless substance on earth!

I was watching this thing the other day about all the gold on the English Bank...blah blah blah...

What happens if it disappears?

Absolutely fucking nothing!

Nice Hack! Love it!

You wouldn't be saying that if you invested in gold 15 years ago;)

I'll be more pissed to not have invested in face masks and J&J like Trump did!

Bitch ass American stupid fu@ks! Hahahaha!

If you think about it....it's useless as Fuck!
