New to Bonsai this year, but have dove in deep. Where do y'all on the east coast source your soil componants? I'm looking for lava
umice:akadama but it seems the threads on the subject are pretty old and I'm hoping there is more places from which to source as of late. In the DC/Charlottesville area. (i have seives to sort out fines and aeration layer large particle sizes)
Currently my best option is https://pumicestore.com/pumice-products/pumice-soil-bonsai.html a 45lb bag of the f 3/8 to 1/8-inch pumice stones and a 3/16 to 1/16-inch pumice stones and mixing them together with a ratio (that i havent done the math on yet) to get a relatively uniform distribution.
