In the spirit of offering up more trees for critique here are a couple of hollies (Yaupon, I think).

The first one was bought at a box store nursery and planted four years in the ground. It is about five inches tall (12 cm).

2nd Holly

This second holly is from a nursery can, in training for three years. First photo is the trunk several years ago.

Holly #3

This holly is from the same nursery. Three years in training so far. First photo is three years ago. The second photo is last year. Final photo is from today. I don't know if it will ever recover from the obvious scars.

Fourth Holly

This final holly is also from the the same nursery. None of these are female trees... so no berries.

I really like #2 I think #4 is actually two plants. All 4 of them have potential as bonsai. I think I'd put the two in bonsai pots into slightly larger pots for a couple of years.

Thanks for your input, JKL. The two trees (I think its one nebari at this point) are in about a three gallon pot, I just cropped out the bottom portion in the photo. I think it has about two years before its ready for a proper pot.
