We do not live far apart and all of are maples are just starting to push as well. This was a tough Winter and it is nice to see some life again! What type are the chunky ones:confused:

the biggest one is a palmatum , along with the bigger of the small ones, which is 6 yrs old from seed before i knew what i was doing.
the seedlings are tridents and amurs
the tiiniest seedlings are amur maples
you can see the vigor in tridents vs. amurs , huge difference same feeding regime and soil etc...

You might want to try a shade area for the Amur as the few seedlings I left in sun last year "might" have grown a 1/4 inch in height with no trunk growth in width. There were two others in shade that did a LOT better.

both sets got morning sun and afternoon shade as it would get too hot and scorch the leaves here in august

i ll try full shade this year on amurs got nothing to lose
