Here’s a Vietnamese style pot I painted to look old and weathered with dwarf jade
And a square Chinese style pot I painted earth tones with my Brazilian rain tree both from seeds

And then 2 other ceramics I found at a thrift store that I made into pots one with my serissa air layer I just did and one with a Chinese elm

Nice! Do you print them in these colors or do you spray paint them?
Hey thanks!
They are printed in a plain grey colour and then I used acrylic paints and then seal them with a matte sealer. Only the outside tho and I use PETG for the filament type as it’s weather resistant and can stand up to hot sun and cold.

That's really cool. I'm thinking of all the other stuff you could 3D print. Chopsticks, bonsai soil scoops, bonsai stand, farmer trays, humidity trays & soil sifters. Nice! :)

Yeah lots of things to print for bonsai and gardening related stuff. Things for air layering and grafting , ornaments for your pot and plants , fertilizer holders , mounts for lighting , soil scoops you name it

I'm really digging this thing. Do you do the .stl by yourself? Can you share more parts of the process?

yeah definitely , i will do a full how to tutorial on my next one , may put a video upon my youtube about it.
thanks for the interest.
I know alot of traditionalists dont like it, but i find it fun creating pots and painting them and putting you bonsai in them or pre bonsai.

Ofcourse they can never replace a nice traditional clay pot but for training and a majority of plants they suffice

Well it all depends on the size of your printer, my printer can print 9 inches x 9 inches x 11.5 inches . some can print up to 20 inches x 20 inches though.

Hell you could make a pot of any size if you printed it in separate pieces with good joints to glue together.

do you have the dope
My best advice: learn 3D modeling. Autodesk Fusion 360 has a free hobbyist license, and is good for this type of modeling.

Printers have gotten pretty cheap, but a lot of libraries also have them now if you want to test something out.

You can print a couple of Nigel Saunders' pots =)

You can for sure and I have but the problem with big pots that are glued together mean big plants and a lot of heavy soil, I wouldn’t trust a bit of glue to hold that much weight even with keys or dowels, but I do plan on getting a bigger printer lol

Honestly i dont know. The printing is easy, the hard part its the paining that takes hours.
you can pick up a decent 3d printer for 200 to 350. If you do get one learn to print with PETG it holds up to elements and heat better.
Also thanks for your kind words im glad you like it
