My uncle Bob found this tree growing in his window well a year or two ago. He died last december. Im interested in what it is.

It appears to be a juniperus virginiana also known as a red cedar. Pretty common around our parts as well as yours. They grow fairly fast.

I agree, Eastern Red Cedar. It is actually a Juniper. They make fairly nice bonsai. They are quite commonly found in gardens and even lawns. The seeds are easily spread by birds and will germinate almost anywhere from Canada to Missouri.

And as far south as Florida! I agree, they can become nice bonsai. Many are available in the wild around me not to mention old landscape trees.
