Be careful with all auto watering. It can work ok, but your trees will always flourish better with a heavy watering when needed, then time to dry out a bit. Misting systems can run the danger of keeping a tree "moist" but not giving it a lot of water... Keeping top layer deceivingly wet while feeder roots below suffer. OR they can leave the trees straight up too wet... Or you can become too reliant on it and if there is a problem with your system you might not notice until a tree is suffering... OR you climate changes due to season changes- uncommonly wet periods, uncommonly hot or windy periods that dry your trees out more... If you have a watering system it will not automatically account for these changes... The other reason a good, heavy watering is important is to refresh the air your roots are absorbing. A "moist soil" that gets watered from a regular misting never really gets a heavy flush of water to push the air out of the gaps in your soil, which is important. stagnant air is where bacteria and diseases can flourish which causes all sorts of issues!
Also, you tend to set a timer and let it go right?... Well, most all your trees are getting the same amount of water in those cases and all trees do not need the same amount of water!
Just saying... I had an automated watering system for years and always use a timer for a sprinkler in my back yard that is mainly for a vegetable garden and a few of my trees, but I try to do the bonsai watering myself for the reasons mentioned above. Use the automatic systems just enough to ensure the trees will survive or make it through a vacation... But you should do a lot of the watering yourself to regulate what trees need more/ less- besides that it is a great opportunity to make sure you are checking your trees everyday to catch any problems in their early stages.
Watering is perhaps the most important skill for a Bonsai enthusiast to master.
