Because mine is a little full. And not even pictured: A 30" shimpaku, two tiny shimpakus in pond baskets and a Hinoki cypress.

Didn't realize until I took these pictures (just in case you can't tell, they're from each end of my porch) just how insane I've become. But I gotta say...I'm pretty damned excited to have found something new that I never in my soon-to-be 33 years would have guessed I'd love so much.

Thanks to all who have extended a helping hand so far with advice. It's due in part to you that I get to spend part of my day out in the sun NOT killing little trees :)

Lol I know the feeling. I just added a new section of shelves to my tree area. I keep telling myself I'm not going to go to any more nurseries....then I see one and I just can't help but go look.

Hehehehe someone caught the bug, good join the crowd.

built a new section of shelving and thought it would be a good addition, didn't even get it full before I realized I need to add another section.

Get yourself the steel wire shelvings, you can double your capacity that way ;) ...I know the feeling, I only started 9.5 months ago and I have around 100+ trees. :D

Good luck...everyone starting out accumulates a lot of trees in their first five or seven years;). After that, they start selling the hopeless stuff off (and there is a lot of it). You wind up with a dozen--or two at the most--that are really worthwhile down the road. However, you won't know which is which until then.

Yeah, that's about the stage I'm at. I have 14 trees; about half I've been lucky enough to pick up as maybe-specimens/"finished" trees for between $300-1500. Those give me something to aspire to and maintain. The rest are of the in-training/stock/just-started-growing that I'm either experimenting with or waiting on.

Luckily for my time management/sanity I've absolutely run out of room to house more until I buy a home with a yard, which I've been resisting for years now.

You are not the first to tell me that. :) For now, I still enjoy all of them. I believe I have more than a couple dozen with really good potential...only my (lacking) abilities is holding them back.

Curious about the $1500 trees...

It is, unfortunately, kind of a crappy situation. The tree is in Pennsylvania, where I am from originally and where I purchased it. Not only am I unable to bring it to California because of space issues (obviously, it's much larger than any of the trees I currently have here) but I'm not allowed to transport it for legal issues as it's a juniper (something I was unaware of at the time). I was considering buying a house at the time here in LA and got a little overanxious. Then I decided not to buy a house. Then I was stuck. So I'm actually just about to complete the process of selling the tree myself. Sigh.

Will have some pictures sent and post them here :)

Bummer...my big juniper is among my favorites, and I haven't even begun to work it yet.

Maybe you can get it sold through Bnut and save on some fees.
