Sorry bonsai nut admin but it worth seeing.

Well I now know what to look for in a yard Juniper....I'll admit I don't really get it but hey if Ya'll like it there must be something to it.

What an awesome material...I pray it survives but I am not too optimistic reading what was done to it. :(

If it lives I would sell it and buy 4- $ 5000. Trees.

Tragedy. If it does not live............

If it lives, probably the best $20 he will ever spend. It certainly has potential to be.

I wouldn't look too much.:D This tree is a once in a lifetime landscape find. Actually, a once in a never find. At first, I thought the poster was playing a joke and going to say that he had been in bonsai for many years and this was collected in the mountains.

I think we should remain hopeful. This tree has a lot of healthy foliage, since junipers survive quite a bit off their foliage, there may be a chance. This could be just wishful thinking on my part.

Yup. I posted in that thread. Pure shock. Even emailed it to some of my bonsai buddies wondering if it might be a joke. You could prowl the rockies for a decade and probably never find a collectable juniper as good as that. I normally avoid the term urban yamadori because it is a misnomer, but holy crap.

True that junipers can pull through with little root. But their chances are best when planted in something like pure pumice, collected in spring, shade cloth, constant misting, and, in general, professional care. Not thrown into a muddy hole in the garden by someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

That thread frustrated the hell out of me.

I'm not a tree huger.but I love trees. Made me want to cry.

what do you guys think about him putting it into the ground? If it didnt have many roots growing in the dirt before(taking his word for it) do you think he may have been better off in a better draining substrate. oops i remember coming to the conclusion that since hes a beginner it was probably best in the ground. I hope he doesnt over water it.

Man I hope that tree survives. Absolutely amazing.

Couple posts there claims it is only worth $5K. If it survives and put on sale for $5K...I will steal, beg, and borrow to buy it. :D

I think what the person meant was sell it for 20k and by 4 trees at 5k Lol.
Thing is the foliage has already dropped meaning lack of water from the roots and to add was the soil compact when placing in ground? Being positive or praying for it won't help a falling tree stand. Sorry but if the evidence is there it's to late.

LOL, I'm about to visit every yard from every house near me! Just kidding of course. Any idea what species of juniper is that is?

Well, it's a chinese juniper.. Looks like sargents..I also thought kishu shimpaku for a moment, but I doubt it.

OMG the homeowner trying to throw that away should be shot dead. That tree is awesome, i would give half of my collection to own it. Can't believe it got ripped from the ground in August what a pity...
