So I've been plugging along documenting and researching the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum pottery collection and stumbled across a cool pot (well, two actually) with a neat story. Apparently when the Chinese pavilion was being constructed some of the clay was collected and sent to Jim Barrett to make a couple of commemorative pots. I found a few pictures of the clay being collected and Jim Barrett actually making the pots. It seems there are supposed to be additional pictures of the process, but I couldn't locate them immediately.

There are some other cool pots in the collection that I'll share at some point soon. The Arboretum wants to vet my pictures first before I make them public, but I'm sure sharing photos of one pot isn't a big deal. Hopefully, we can get a North American tree in this pot sometime soon. They've been pushing to display many of the more interesting American pots in the display area.
