Found this guy being grown under a shade cloth along with some assorted conifers at a local(ish) nursery and thought, that's at least half way to being a bonsai already!

When I first purchased it I was under the impression it was some kind of larch but after trawling the net a little, it would seem larch have softer foliage that tends to grow in little rosettes. I'm now thinking some kind of pine? Guess autumn will at least be able to tell me that much.

Removed some dead/dying growth from the lower portion of the trunk and wedged the two main trunks apart with a stick to allow some light and air into the canopy, beyond that I'm waiting to get a more definite ID on it so I know when I can do what.148340644_1948855478599835_2211985887934411299_n.jpg148171208_164030695329221_420468940200304668_n.jpg

Somebody help 😅

Thanks in advance!

Bit more searching about conifer's and their foliage characteristics later, I'm fairly sure it's a spruce but I'm still a newbie so I'll err on the side of caution and wait for a response
