Hello

Just under the surface of an inorganic mix, of my olive tree are many small wigglying white insects..

I’ve seen springtails but these are smaller and not quite the same. Perhaps different type of springtails...
They certainly jump about like them.

Anyone want to confirm?
If they are, then I’m not worried.

The tree is growing very strongly and healthy otherwise.

You can come pick them out of my substrate lol... there are 1000s of them. A lot grouping round base of the trunk too. Absolutely everywhere..

Pretty damn sure they are springtails..
I’m aware they feed on rotting, deadwood which I’m just thinking whether is a positive or not...

On the one hand, it could speed up aging of bark, looking older, faster.

Or could eat it completely and then I have no aged bark at all.

Having looked up description, I see no black heads and these guys certainly have legs.
Pretty sure springtails, but I appreciate you giving me some doubt ;)
