Just finished this stand today. I had cut the legs and corbel pieces months ago, but just this last week I had some time free up and was inspired. I also repurposed the top from Stand build 3. that stand was just not robust enough to withstand my constant moving of it, so I took it apart with intentions of using the top with another piece.

There are some things I would have done different on this one, but I’m learning more and more with each build about what I prefer. There are a few imperfections here and there but overall I’m happy with the build. In particular I like the negative space between the cross member and the curly walnut corbels. Also the piece of maple that I inset on the underside of the table, drawing on the color of the maple in the corners. A hidden detail of sorts.

I’m going to put this one up on Bonsai Auctions tomorrow. I think I’m also going to put together a plywood box inspired by my bud @Pitoon .

approx. 15x11x9

hope you like it.

I just put on the ugly face and nodded my head.

Nuff Said? Nope.

I hope the first BID knocks it way out the park.

I haven't really been looking, but that's the closest to the epitome of what a stand for an American Bonsai looks like.

thank you sorcerer! Don’t know if it’s quite at that level yet, but your words are appreciated greatly. I just know that I love this stage of the creative process. While I have been selling my stands when I make them, I’m making them entirely for myself and my own curiosities. I get after these when I’m between jobs or after hours as a means to just be creative. Inevitably, and maybe it won’t be the case with the stands, I get requests and commissions and while I’ll appreciate any creative work my way, the motivation for the build changes slightly. I’m in the pure passion stage at the moment.
