My step son and I were messing around with clay and asked what I was making and we got to talking about ideas about rounded and rectalinear pots. He defiantly made a triangular pot. It has a cute lil draba in it now, totally worked.
The first triangle pot I ever made was actually my oldest son, Riley’s, idea.. it fell apart.. he glued it back together and wants to put his Scots pine in it. 🤣

But my stepson hasn’t done clay with me yet..
We DO have this really cool fan/light combo that we like to stare at together, while holding hands and babble-speaking about various topics.. blankets, milk, hands, and mamma amongst the most common things hypothetically discussed.

🤓🤓

Bless you for being a step-father...

Makes you feel like Batman, doesn’t it?

Stacked the kiln at 11 last night... started candling at 6 a.m.F8F98D5D-3647-4614-847D-9517CBA171B8.jpegAA57FC87-8677-4530-925F-3D28269501CC.jpeg
It’s interesting because I had recently abandoned the “candling process”.. I am resurrecting said process because I learned that it is helpful when firing brush-on glazed greenware.

What's the deal with the red light inside the kiln? I figured it would be too hot for that. Very cool, however you did it.

The red glow is heat ;D

That's why I want to poke it with a stick. It shouldn't take long for the stick to spontaneously burst into flames at those temps :D

Everything went well!!

Only had ONE cracking/breakage issue.. but that WAS on the piece I KNEW would be cracking anyways... I did not get a full come 6 (on the TOP).. my tank was nearly empty after 8 hours and I had to switch, to a half-full tank.. which is NOT “right” because a 15 lb tank USUALLY lasts MUCH longer!.. i THOUGHT it felt light.... maybe they are under filling now due to the tank shortage.

well there!... now that I KIND of know what I’m doing... I can get to work on MAYBE getting some pots made that will look good in OTHER’S possession.

Nice!

Is that a little pinkish reduction on that green joint? Is that that little jar glaze?

Dope.

Why stop there? I bet a lot of things would catch fire. I would have liked to be your friend in high school.

Hehe! I used the green little jar stuff WITH varying concentrations (spanning 8-25percent) FeO2 to see what would happen.. On EVERYTHING that’s green except the little accent pot with the unglazed... “corner-tacles” 🤣🤣.

It ACTUALLY made the green lighter and richer..

I’ll take some closer pictures of my favorite things that “happened” shortly...

This Glaze.. is my favorite...
It’s a fabrication/recipe of mine called “AG014(DG10)” but I THINK this is what I was going for.. so it deserves it’s PROPER name.. “Diviner’s Glaze”.... made with Diviner’s Ash.8CF03E96-4D21-41C5-A8AC-22C848A14727.jpeg
Ironically Enough... THIS is the ONE piece that I had cracking issues with... I knew that going in, though.. this is the guy that I glazed too quickly.

ALL the structures performed at LEAST semi-fantastically.4B5E46D9-4EEE-4365-B4E1-7B5A7D11F2D9.jpeg

This clay is my current favorite.... it’s such a joy to work with... and I had no idea it’d fire this dark... I’m glad i left this... um.. “set”.. unglazed. As the eyes really appreciate appreciating this raw texture.

My experiments in FeO2 vs. Green.

(The bigger piece has my only “sag” experienced from this fire.. but it was SLIGHTLY sagging in that direction while it was still “green”... the fire just assisted the walls in completing that motion! 🤣)

There’s ALSO a bunch of glaze testers I did.. seeing if I knew how to stabilize and balance low-fire glazes/recipes to/at medium-high temps...(they are pretty much only

MOST of them were successful.. which means I believe I have a reasonable clear “grasp” of glaze chemistry.... it was ALL theoretical BEFORE this fire.

SO exciting! I learned MUCH..

Can’t wait to fill the kiln again!
