Old sandstone bridge foundation with this "weed" clinging on for dear life. Have to check back on it when leaves get bigger to see what it is "weed". The roots are only clinging by the tips on the far left and are almost 2ft long. Kinda cool so I thought I'd share.

Probably not collecting, just thought the roots were amazing. Flood Zone.
Don't get me wrong, I will be back in a couple weeks to ID this thing. Getting some leaf now.
I'd maybe give it a serious hair cut and watch it grow for a while.

But... if you look at the 4th pic which is from above, as the "weed" is growing horizontal, looks very interesting to a new guy:)

Bark and growth habit looks like honeysuckle - invasive in the Midwest, but can make a decent bonsai. Don't know about that particular one....If I'm right they're hard to kill, or, easy to collect depending on your point of view.

Good eye! After reading up on them, sure sounds/looks like it. Thanks for the tip! I'll be back there to confirm soon.

Those roots do look cool, but how long are they
about 2 foot of roots. Doubt it will make it into a Bonsai Pot. May make it into my back yard landscape hanging off a big rock or something.

Went back to visit and take some clips.
Japanese Honeysuckle - Lonicera japonica
Invasive and Ohio DNR recommends burning or herbicide.
May have to do my part for the state and contain this beast in my back yard.
It's got a whole cascade going down the water side not shown in pics above.
Too big and ugly...

It would be a while till this gets anywhere a pot like that. (Looks GREAT) There are 2 ft of roots buried and 2 ft exposed. I misjudged when I said 2ft roots in original location/post when it was hanging off a 4 ft sandstone bridge foundation. Gonna try this in the yard for a while and maybe whittle it down someday,
