Study: Acer Rubrum acclimate better in urban environments

So I just read this article and the study it’s referencing.



My takeaways from this are that Red Maple are probably a very good maple choice for city balcony bonsai given their apparent ability to acclimate well to what would be stressors for other trees.

Thought that was pretty cool!

Acer rubrums are cool trees. Really vigorous and their leaves reduce nicely. I have a bunch that ive started from seeds. I collected a gorgeous one with a 3 inch trunk before i knew what i was doing. It sadly did not make it. But I'm not giving up on the species!

im looking for a good material to work around here. soon i’ll have too many maples than can fit on a small balcony :0
