I need some direction on styling this red Chojubia. I have read several articles but it seem to be impossible to get anywhere from where I am now. I have had it numerous years and have basically been giving it a haircut each year and rooting the cuttings.

I am looking for some constructive suggestions please.

Worry more about this than the cuttings!

Seems like you have a great start but it's a bit hard to view.

Sorce: How can I improve the view? You mean better pictures or branch removal?

Trouble is branch removal may be necessary to tell what branches you should remove.🤔

I guess it depends on wether or not you like the exit angle of what exists, if not, keep small stuff you can bend still. If you do, remove the small stuff.

Search Chojubai bonsai and look at some images (note the spelling). Many are styled as a clump, pruned to a silhouette. Some have a central trunk, with branches radiating outward. Yours seems to have the beginning of the latter. Identify some branches on the outsides of any curves, and carefully wire those shoots outward to give them some space, and add some wiggle. Prune away the rest. Chojubai branches remain flexible for a long time, but they will set and hold shape in a year or so. They’re also good growers, albeit on a very dwarf scale.
