styrax seed germination

I have a handful of styrax seeds from last fall. Does anyone have any thought on germinating these seeds. I've been using the scarification method for most of my seeds, it seems to work pretty well. Any help would be much appreciated.

Dirr claims that they are 'double dormant' and reccomends 5 months warm stratification followed by 3 months cold.

I understand that but their are quicker ways to germinate seed such as scarification. I was wondering if the same were possible for styrax?

well if it is a dormant seed that needs stratification, you need to do that. it wakes the seed from dormancy. scarifying a dormant seed is kind of pointless. seems 1 month warm and moist followed by 2 months cold treatment are best according to usda database.
