Hey everyone,

New to this forum, just wanted to know what y'all think about Bonsai of a Sugar maple. I have read that even with defoliation that they don't reduce well in leaf size. Just wanted to know if anyone had any luck. Right now i am growing 3 pots, 2 singles and 1 forest and the singles look fairly well and if i pinch the buds on them they do start sporting smaller leaves. Just wondering if anyone had any luck

Other tress i own, Juniper, dawn redwood, and 2 Japanese black pines.
Just wondering if anyone has any friendly advice

I thought that rammification on itself will force the tree to make smaller leaves because it will try to make the same leaf surface area on more twigs and thus making smaller leaves. Also you should only defoiliate when u have your first base structure (first, secondary branching maybe even 3th branching). Welcome to the forum man, btw you can make bonsai of any species, you only have to enjoy it :)
