Summer vacation ?

i'm getting amped up for my annual summer vacation coming in July. It got me to wondering what others here do for vacation from the workaday world? I work 50 weeks a year to get 2 weeks away from it all. What do you do??
Here's mine.

Looks nice and peaceful!! Whose mountains??

We've been waiting till later on in the fall and going to the coast of NC. Not as "busy." Rates are better! Here's a shot or two from last year's trip.

The first pictures shows porpoises in the surf just off shore. The second is a sunrise off the back deck one morning, and the third is the walkway to the beach off the shore side deck. North Carolina coast in Emerald Isle.

Ah Yes!! You're off to see the Mouse I see!!

I used to have some "pre" pictures of that thing. Quite an undertaking!!

Yep!

Stayed up late last night (almost 11pm-Thank God for the LED head flashlight) finishing my drip irrigation system so I can test before we go. Installation was fast but getting the proper flow balance on each is the bit@h! (pardon)

I think I stretched the limit of my 2 zone system. LOL :p

My daughter agreed to visit every other day to make sure all is well and water if needed. :)

That little bump is owned by the State of Maine.
Never had the pleasure of visiting NC coastal areas. Perhaps now that my brother just bought a house near New Bern. The beach that I am familiar with has just a few more people on it than what your pics show. That's why I am less of a fan of the beach and more a fan of the lakes and mountains. All in what you get used to I guess.
I had never seen the big tree before, so I had a suspicion that it might be Disney World due to the mouse reference. I google "Disney big tree" and sure enough, there it was. I thought it actually might be a real tree but presume it is man-made. Quite a tree!

This beach has more people in the summer, but mostly just people fishing, etc. in October.

As for the tree, it is man made. One of my sons works for Disney down there and he sent me a pic or two when they were "building" the tree. I'm wanting to say it houses support people, etc. I know they tend to "hide" such things like that. Tunnels underneath, etc.

Construction of "Tree of Life" at Disney Animal Kingdom

I apparently no longer have "my" pics of the building of this tree. But I Googled "tree of life construction Disney animal kingdom" and came up with a ton of pictures.

I also found this website that details a lot of the construction of it as well as a story that I'd not heard that the inspiration for the "Tree of Life" is rumored to have been a bonsai at an early Disney bonsai expo.

Summer of bonsaiventure

First picture: What I'll be doing this sunday. My first passion. auto repair. timing belt, incl. hydro-tensioner, idler, water pump, cam and crank seals. Rear shocks. Rear u-joint, front and rear diff service, trans flush and filter, oil pan gaskets(upper and lower) oil change, serpentine belt. and lastly upper intake manifold gasket. all with no air-compressor. on my GF's 1999 Izuzu Rodeo. It'll take awhile but relaxing non the less.

Second pic: First road trip next month.

Third pic: Second road trip ending up at Ricks for a week of zen in the mountains.

come on over to the east coast. I have a 94 Mazda with 178K miles that needs another T belt. You can have a ball.

We cannot have a normal vacation this year with the renovation but instead have made reservations at a posh place with a king size bed, Jacuzzi in room, and a balcony with a great view of the Poconos for a weekend. Also made two weekend reservations for power, water, internet campsites we have not been to one in PA and one on the Delaware River. Beats a blank and will give me a few breaks.

Hoping we can get away to Hocking Hills...and hit some caves, hiking trails and waterfalls. With our crazy busy summer with all the weddings and bridal showers...it may have to be mini two day trips here and there. A few day trip trails I've not seen with waterfalls. Maybe a bed and breakfast stay. We shall see...

The Rock House...inside looking out.

Last year, our summer vacation plans were done in by issues at my wife's place of employment...a 7 day vacation turned into a 2.5 day long weekend. God help me if that happens again. Never been to the Gulf but looking forward to doing pretty much nothing when I get there next month:cool:
