Weather said it was supposed to be 75 and sunny today/ all week. Many of my trees are still in the nursery pot and still have regular nursery soil, so I only give them a good soak about once a week due to the cooler weather in oakland. Watered them all thoroughly this morning expecting a sunny day but, it just stayed overcast all day and actually rained tonight. Is there any cause for alarm for overwatering? I dumped all of the drip trays, and none of them are sitting in water.

You're watering once a week in a 10A? I wish... I have very few plants that can get away with once a day or 2 days at the most, and I still spray the foliage in the morning when I water all my trees. And, like you, almost all my trees are either in nursery pots, rootpouch, or colanders.

Yeah just about. Most of my trees are still in very organic soil and it doesn’t get hotter than 75 where I’m at. Also on a northwest facing balcony with open sky, so it’s not full sun all day.

Extra water once or twice will not hurt the trees. Root problems associated with over watering take months to get going. If you get problems after this it was not the rain that caused it. Far more likely to be the weeks before.

You might want to think about repotting those in nursery soil, and change out to bonsai soil, early in our rainy season. Granted, we've had some dry winters lately but once the rains start you could get rain every week for months. Don't we hope that happens? Around here repotting in December is no big deal for most trees.

Yeah, I’m going to repot them ASAP. I didn’t want to do anything major in the fall though. The trees I have are a coast live oak, a couple JPM’s in air pots. Two hornbeams, a trident, and an Oregon white oak. Was going to buy a bunch of organic bonsai jack soil.

I’m in zone 8. We’re in the high 80s and I water once a day. Everything is in nursery soil

In my defense, everything is in the sun for about 9-10hrs a day

But as was said, an extra watering here or there isn’t a big deal
