This is an intro to the BC I collected this past weekend. I'm gonna call it Swamp Thing, I believe. That may be new or original for a BC to be called that. I imagine quit a few people have called large BC trees they've collected, Swamp Thing.
It had a large knee in it when I was digging it. I thought it was connected. Turns out it was not. Now it's just a very large stump, a Thing. So I think the name is appropriate "Swamp Thing"
My carving kinda sucks at the moment my batteries died, and i still had the other two trees to pot. It got dark before I could return to carving any more. It will wait for a couple years for more carving. Hopefully I get some branching in good locations and I'll have some ideas as to where I'm gonna go with it.

Btw just so you guys get an Idea of its size the thick plastic box it's in is 22"x24"x10" deep. It is a monster.

Damn that is bigger than I expected when I clicked the thread.
I think the carving looks decent for a rough first go!

I would have sealed your initial chop and waited on the carving until it had pushed some growth this spring summer. As it is right now, you've significantly reduced the areas on the trunk where it might grow.
Yup. As it is now, you're working with limited options, most of them bad.

Yeah now that I'm looking at some photos

Maybe not I don't think it's that bad. But I was thinking about taking a chain saw and cutting it off on a 45 degree angle to give it more tapper. Although the tapper isn't bad as that first pic looks.
