Wow, have not thought about this tree for a bit. Unfortunately, it was one of many that I have had to sell over the years. This particular tree I sold to a member of the LV Bonsai Society. I always hoped it was developed because I thought it had potential.

You are correct that these are rather cold sensitive at lower than 20F. I don't know if they need dormancy however I suspect, like most that I would put in a semi-tropical category, that it would be fine with or without. I know it gets used some in Florida where I don't think it gets any dormancy to speak of. Many semi-trops do a dormancy during "dry" seasons and use rainy seasons for vegetative growth. (bougs do this).

Sorry, I can't provide any solid info but was it mine, I would forgo the dormancy. Check into the care people give Brazilian Rain Trees and give it similar care and you should be fine.
