Here is a picture of a Tamarix I obtained in February. When I first saw it there was a six inch layer of snow covering the bucket it was planted in. Obviously there were no visible growing branches but the price was such it was worth the risk.

I have found this subject very quick growing since these pictures were taken some weeks ago, obviously there is a lot of growing to do on this tree.
The tree is 36 inches tall and has a trunk diameter of 8.75 inches.
There is substantial back budding appearing on the upper regions of the life veins of which there are only two. The deadwood is natural and apart from a slight modification to the deadwood on the left side which made it look like a sawn log I do not intend messing with natures hand.
this is an unusual subject for bonsai in the UK and Europe although generally Tamarix are quite commonly seen on the coastal areas of Southern England with marvelously contorted deadwood trunks.
