Tanuki recommendations

Here is the same aged larch handled as a sumo.
It will be repotted this spring.
The sacrifice will be removed when the green turns yellow in autumn either this year or I mite let it thicken the trunk another and wait till fall 2022.
The tree is just under 6 inch tall and 1 1/2 inch thick.
I would like to get it 2 inch thick before sacrifice is chopped but this will leave a bigger wound.

Again this literati larch is from the same batch of seedlings just to show how the same trees can be used in the same time frames.
This one will be repotted this spring into a small pot
It won't be furtilised any more as I will refine the new green shoots, pruning them 3 times a year to reduce vigour.
This tree is 20 inch tall.

na, you are right.
It is not a tanuki. It is a dead juniper cutting in a bit of deadwood.
