I am thinking of creating a Tanuki bonsai but I am a bit confused about the Preservative to use some articles sugest Lime Sulphur and otheres sugest preserving the deadwood with Wood hardener can anyone give advice please and with wood hardener can any kind of deadwood be used eg pine cottoneaster etc many thanks

I use Minwax wood hardner, never tried it on you're kind of tree, but lime sulper won't keep it from rotting. Normally you won't need it on the entire tree, just around the trunk line where it meets the soil, but then again that's on Junipers, all I have had experience with.

Many thanks for the info Harry I will take what you say on board and see what happens never tryed a Deadwood befor so its a new experience for me
