Ten Year Club

Post a picture of a bonsai that you have owned for at least ten years being in a bonsai pot for ten years. If it's been in a bonsai pot longer, then that is even better. Please post a before picture also. That is always nice to see where the tree has come from.

I feel ten years is a great milestone. These trees should be commended from a forum full of hobbiests.

How many will we get? I know Walter and Bill V. have many but how many of us mere mortals.

I know you’re in a pi$$ing match with someone on this topic, but I’m sitting home battling a cold so I’ll play.
Hawthorn, I collected in 2000. First Bonsai pot was 2004, so in the current shot, it’s been in a pot 15 years.

Japanese Maple, ‘Chishio imoroved’. Gift from Gary Wood in 2003, which I stuck in the ground.
First Bonsai pot shot in 2006, and a current shot from 2019, in a Bonsai pot for 13 years.

How about a pine? JBP purchased from Brussels in 2007, first Bonsai pot in 2008. Current shot in 2019, 11 years in a Bonsai pot.

Another JBP. Cutting-grown Hachi Gen corkbark cultivar. Started in 1998, I bought it in 2007. First Bonsai pot around 2009. Last shot is current. 10 years in a pot.

Chinese quince. Bought on eBay in 2005. In and out of the ground for a few years, current shot is 2019, probably close to 10 years in a pot overall.

Azalea, I dug it from my front yard in 2001. Been containerized ever since. First shot was after collecting, second shot is earliest shot in a pot, 2005, and current shot is 2019, 14 years in a Bonsai pot.

‘Taihei’ corkbark JBP. This one resents work, but it’s been in a Bonsai pot for over 10 years with me.

Slightly better results with this cultivar of corker, ‘Kyokko Yatsabusa’. Bought in a pot in 2008, next shot was late 2018, so 10 years.

Pot is a modified 55 US gallon black barrel.

Today it has a bonsai pot, but have no new images
Soil is 5 mm silica based gravel 1/3
1/3 5 mm crushed red brick
1/3 aged compost.
