I just got a few Texas Ebony seeds. I want to increase my chance of success for germination. I checked in YouTube but there is not much info on how to germinate the seeds. Do you guys have any pointers? Thank you!

I started all these Texas Ebony seeds on Jan 2nd. I used scarification technique I found on google. It worked very well. I placed them in cactus growing medium and placed them in this repurposed rotisserie chicken container. Kept them moist and on a warming pad. Germination 100%. Now the hard part. Keeping them alive. Tell me what you think.

They look great! For scarification did you soak in sulfuric acid?

Just remember they are legumes and have nitrogen-fixing roots. No nitrogen fertilizer. Stay away from acidic soil mixes or soft water (they like it slightly on the alkaline side which should be perfect for Arizona).

I did not use acid. I just scratched the seeds with sand paper and that's it.

Cool! I love these trees! I still have mine from SoCal here in the NC and though I had to protect them for the winter they are doing fine. Watch the thorns :)
