Started on a walk and a neighbor that I got an Indian Hawthorn from (a few days before) saw me as he was tearing up more shrubs (11/9)

“Hey, man, this one’s massive! You want it?”

Took a look and it sure was a big boy. About 4’ tall. Said I’d grab it after my walk

As you’ll see from the pics, I took a lot of root off, and cut the whole thing down by 50%

Trunk is about 5” across in pic with my hand. Lots of branches with twists. Lots of options for this one

Today cleaned it up by cutting off the smaller dead twigs. If/when it shocks, or drops the last bit of leaves, I’ll take off those branches too, so it’ll mostly be the massive branches

I really hope there’s not too much dieback. I left the large branches very long for that reason

I’ll reassess in spring and cut down any dieback if needed
