Before and after this season’s second trim. The second right branch is coming along, but needs to develop a little, so I wired it, removed some interior leaves, and pinched the ends to get more ramification in close.
Haircut time again, and the wire on the second right branch was cutting in, so it was time to come off. I shortened this shoots as well, hoping for some budding closer in on those new shoots.
This is my kind of thread - a great DIY "grow your own" project with an outstanding result. I, personally, get a lot more satisfaction doing it this way rather than buying a trunk & hanging a branch structure on it. The tree has more worth when a decade of the most precious resource you have is invested in it.
